Wood-plastic composite is a composite material made of recycled plastic and wood waste. It is mostly used for outdoor deck floors. Also, it is used for docks, railings, ceilings, fences, landscaping timbers, cladding and siding, park benches, pallets, molding and trim, construction template, window and door frames, and indoor furniture. Manufacturers claim that wood-plastic composite is more environmentally friendly and requires less maintenance than the alternatives made of solid wood treated with preservatives or solid wood made of rot-resistant species.
